What is pan de sal?

Contrary to the spanish translation “salt bread”, pan de sal is slightly sweet. It’s a light and fluffy versatile roll that can be paired with butter, cheese, ham, chocolate, and other fillings. It’s one of the most popular breads in the Philippines often served for almusal (breakfast) and sometimes meryenda (snack) – also perfect for sawsaw-ing (dipping) in hot coffee.
